From laptop scare to countryside calm: Janet’s morning reset

Today got off to a horrible start with a message filling Bob’s laptop screen and a voice blaring out on loop telling us it had been blocked and that we needed to call a number it was giving us for help. Well, we weren’t falling for that, but we couldn’t move the cursor or even turn the volume off or down. Good old ctrl+alt+del at least meant we could shut it down and walk away. We were concerned about what we’d find when we switched it on again (particularly as we’d not been diligently backing up), but we decided to come up here and try to forget it.

Sometimes people disappoint you so much you wish you could get away from all that comes with modern living and the rest of the human race, permanently. Escaping here for a while lifted our spirits – watching our new arrivals happily tucking into their first breakfast together; holding a still-warm, newly-laid egg; walking by thistles with butterflies surrounding us, marvelling particularly at a pretty male common blue and a pair of elegant painted ladies.

Back home, we tentatively opened the laptop. Thankfully all good. Virus scan gave the all-clear. Back-ups have now been done.
